Cosmetic Acupuncture is one of East Asia’s best kept secrets. It has been used with great success in Asia for hundreds of years as both preventive anti-ageing treatments and the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles.
What is it?
Cosmetic Acupuncture is one of East Asia’s best kept secrets. It has been used with great success in Asia for hundreds of years as both preventive anti-ageing treatments and the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. The art of cosmetic acupuncture works in many ways to help reverse the process of ageing and to treat pigmentation, increase tone, and target deep and superficial lines and wrinkles.
How does it work?
One of the main modus operandi of cosmetic acupuncture is the targeting of specific motor/muscle points. This helps to tighten and lift certain flaccid muscles of the face resulting in an increase in tone and ‘lifting’ effect on the face. Using this technique certain muscles which are too tight causing unwanted wrinkles or frown lines can also be softened/relaxed resulting in a reduction in wrinkles and an increase in tone.
What to expect
Patients can expect an improvement in overall tone and colour of the face. This is achieved by softening deep wrinkles and lines. Lifting certain facial muscles and improving the body’s natural collagen production. Most patients report a noticeable change in the vitality of their face and the softening of their wrinkles and lines.
Incorporating LED red light technology
Once the needles are in place we apply the Celluma LED light over the face. The red light stimulates collagen production, softens fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin tone. While the blue light fights acne causing bacteria. It is a stand alone cosmetic treatment, but combined with the cosmetic acupuncture give us exceptional results.
How many treatments do I need?
Recommended Cosmetic acupuncture protocols vary, depending on age of patient (as collagen production is diminished as we age), life style factors and desired results. Generally speaking though:
Patients under 50 (6 – 8 treatments, weekly or twice weekly)
Patients over 50 (8 – 10 treatments, weekly or twice weekly)
After the initial Protocol, a maintenance treatment of once every 1 to 2 months is recommended.
